PE and Sport
At Abbey Hill, our PE and Sport curriculum supports Abbeyhillians to be active, confident and healthy for life. Its purpose is threefold: to develop the ABCs of sport (agility, balance, coordination) and the fundamentals of movement; to provide all pupils with a breadth of sporting experiences; and to nurture positive, lifelong attitudes towards healthy living.
Our curriculum is built around the iMoves materials and is structured into two weekly sessions: one focused on core physical skills and one on sport-specific PE. In Early Years and Key Stage 1, the emphasis is on developing strong fundamentals. In Key Stage 2, pupils continue to develop these skills while also engaging in a wide range of sports through dedicated sport-specific lessons.
Both in our School Sports Partnership and across Transform Trust, we enjoy opportunities to engage in sporting events including football, cricket and multi-sport events.
We also work with a range of external coaches and clubs to promote wider participation and routes into local sport, including:
Mansfied Town FC
Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club
Paceball UK
Information about our spend of the Sports Premium and reporting on our Swimming Attainment can be accessed here.
As we use materials from a scheme (iMoves) there is limited documentation we can publish on our website. More information about iMoves can be found here and documentation used by school can be viewed in school.
